Davao City, The Philippines - 2019

During my second visit to the Philippines, I went to Davao City within the rural parts of it. I met an old woman who was 94 years old, and almost blind with no one in her life. No family or friends to help or assist. She was being helped by some of her neighbours who would occasionally drop off some food but nothing that ensures she would  eat regularly.

She hadn't showered in a few months and couldn’t walk. We saw that she lived in a small house with a broken roof because a tree fell on it, which means water was getting inside every time it would rain.

She was able to get this place at her younger age because she was working on a farm. Now she was sleeping on a rug on the floor with no one to help her. I decided to help out by building a home, purchasing a wheelchair for her and also was able to pay someone to take care of her regularly by feeding, showering and taking her to church sometimes. The home that was built for her included a toilet inside of it so she can access it with her wheelchair.

Recently, I had received news that she is 100% blind. I am happy to say she has been able to be at peace and happiness because of church and she says she has a purpose, I am happy to say she is cared for on a regular basis with treats included.
