Filadelfia, Costa Rica - 2019

In March 2019, my wife and I travelled to Guanacaste, Costa Rica for a week. We had brought along with us two suitcases of clothing for kids between the ages of 1-10 along with 15 soccer balls and school accessories. The owners of the Airbnb that we stayed at were able to connect us with a government official whose wife was kind enough to guide us around to one of the poorest districts in Costa Rica called Filadelfia.

We organized the clothing and items between gender and age to make it easier to distribute amongst the families and children in that district. Shortly after that visit, we used Google to help us locate other districts around us that were high in poverty then drove around handing out the remainder of clothing, food and other items. I remember after a full day spent there, a family had asked to take us out for a meal to thank us, I was overwhelmed by this as they had little to nothing and still wanted to give us a token of appreciation.
